Learning at Brook: Planning and Sequencing
Mixed-aged classes mean we carefully map out learning over two years. This ensures no child misses any learning in any subject.
We sequence knowledge so that skills and knowledge build cumulatively over time. Every topic is sequenced over lessons so knowledge builds progressively. In addition to this, learning progresses over the course of a year and Key Stage. Because of this, we ensure children know and remember more.
Our curriculum is fully mapped out from Early Years through to the end of Key Stage Two.

Our inclusive curriculum is bespoke to the pupils of Brook and provides opportunities for each pupil to recognise and fulfil their potential and flourish through all elements of the National Curriculum and beyond.
We do not narrow our curriculum – we provide a range of subjects and topics that enable children to discover their unique talents.
We prepare children for their future by teaching in a subject-specific way. This ensures children leave Brook knowing what it is to be a historian, a scientist, an artist and so on.
