Environment-led Learning

We are passionate about taking our learning outside and beyond the classroom as frequently as we can. We are determined to make all learning memorable and children often remember their learning when they have had hands-on opportunities outside the classroom.

This year, we are increasing our environment-led learning. Year 1-6 will visit our off-site provision every term and take part in an off-curriculum, enrichment day (see below).  In addition to this, class teaching teams will lead another outdoor learning day using our own on-site provision, linking this day closely to the learning for the term. As well as these timetabled days, we are going to focus on other ways to utilise our environment both on and off site.

Forest Adventures

We are proud to have a qualified Level 3 Forest School Practitioner on our staff team, meaning that our pupils can regularly experience adventures in the forest.

The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire children through an innovative, long-term educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment.  Forest School offers hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.  We have a dedicated Forest School area at the top of our playing field, and are also fortunate to have access to local woods.

Our forest days are based on our curriculum and provide enriching activities to supplement the learning on school site.

We are now a 'good' school with 'outstanding' leadership and, in May 2023, Ofsted found that:

“Happiness permeates the school.”
