Learning Outside and Beyond the Classroom

We are passionate about taking our learning outside the classroom (LOtC) as frequently as we can and learning beyond the classroom is our current focus. We look for strong links in our curriculum to LOtC so we can make the most of the facilities and surroundings we have at Brook.
We hold the bronze mark for LOtC and we are hoping to gain the silver or gold this year.

Forest Adventures
We are proud to have a qualified Level 3 Forest School Practitioner on our staff team, meaning that our pupils can regularly experience adventures in the forest.
The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire children through an innovative, long-term educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment. Forest School offers hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. We have a dedicated Forest School area at the top of our playing field, and are also fortunate to have access to local woods.
Our forest days are based on our curriculum and provide enriching activities to supplement the learning on school site.
All classes attend the local forest site at least once a term but we aim to utalise our on-site provision as often as we can.
